Research
& Synthesis

After interviewing four users, here are some “I” statements from the affinity map. Listed below are the ones users emphasized the most which influenced the creation of our Persona:

I hate when I go to the store and the item I need is out of stock.

I sometimes I get things I don’t need t and over spend money.

I spend lots of time searching for what  I need because the store layout is confusing.

I forget items I need because I spend too long looking at other items in the grocery store.

Problem
Statement

Shopping can be time consuming when searching for the items in the different aisles in the stores that led people to have frustrations and bad experiences at grocery stores.

How might we reduce time combustion at grocery stores for customers to provide better experinces?

Journey Map

The over all function options of the app:

  • Create bags to reorder
  • Select items based on categories
  • Set date for pick up
  • Reserve or Pay ahead

User Flow

The user flow below focuses on  the alert preferences set up before driving. At this point you have selected your route with either Google Map or Waze.

After performing the first usability tests to three users, I learned that it was important to keep the filtering option, maintain a total price amount, need to include expiration date and the next arrival date for fresh food like produce or meat. They also suggested to include the instruction section before the confirmation section.

Feature Prioritation

Features that solve the user’s need are

  • New/Pre-order bag option
  • List of freshly arrival food (meat, vegetables, dairy etc).
  • Pick up purchase bag or continue shopping at store.

Prototype

Usability Test – Scenario: You have a tight schedule right after work you have 20 minutes to get groceries before picking up your kids.
  • Task 1: Create a bag so you can purchase online and pick up at the grocery store.
All four users that tested the product were able to complete the task and add the products to the bag. However, more frames need to created for user who have an account and want to reorder again.

Future Goal

  • Improve the selection process with filters.
  • Explore better ways to provide updated weekly sales and coupons.
  • Add more frames for coming back users who want to reorder or make edits to their order.
